On 23 September 2021 the Estonian National Museum was visited by Rector of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts Semyon Mikhailovsky, who was accompanied by representatives of the Estonian Ministry of Culture.
The Rector explored the museum’s large permanent exhibitions “Encounters” and “Echo of the Urals” as well as the Finno-Ugric photography exhibition “Peoples are Made of People” in the gallery.
The Rector of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts was fascinated by the structure and creative solutions of the museum’s exhibitions and the contemporary innovative methods for capturing visitors’ attention. He showed particular interest in the photos of Johannes Pääsuke, who, in addition to many Estonian regions, managed to capture the life and scenes in Russia 100 years ago. The Rector also praised the architectural solution of the museum building, calling it a true landmark for both the Estonian culture and all foreign visitors.
As a gift, the museum gave the Rector a copy of Peoples are Made of People, a book of old photographs depicting Finno-Ugrians and Samoyeds, compiled by Indrek Jääts.
